「加油！」這兩個字在十一月聽得最多。十一月二日(五)是一年一度的聯校陸運會。之前的一天，居然在十一月差不多秋去冬來的日子，也懸掛了三號風球，幼稚園要停課，若戶外活動，中、小學也要取消。我們這邊廂準備相關之通吿，好讓家長得知聯校陸運會的特別安排，那邊廂也希望可以順利如常舉行。天公造美，當天零晨，三號風球除去了，迎來更適合舉行戶外活動的天氣—雨絲停歇，露出少許陽光，帶來了一點點秋意，感謝上天對我們的眷顧。當天同學們的學習由課室移師至馬鞍山運動場。同學們、老師們、家長們也成運動健將，在運動場上大顯身手。最叫人感動的是，勝利者不流露一點驕傲，失敗者不表現失落，大家都志在參與，四處也可以聽到「加油」這兩個字。 花絮：按這裏 | |||||
‘To cheer each other on’ is the phrase most experienced in November. The second of November, 2018 was the Joint-School Sports Day. However, typhoon signal number 3 was hoisted a day before. We have never had a typhoon in late autumn. All the kindergartens were suspended. If typhoon signal number 3 is hoisted, all the outdoor activities for the primary and secondary schools must be cancelled. All the teachers prepared a circular and activated the contingency plan for the parents and students to know what they could do if it was cancelled. Fortunately, typhoon signal 3 was down to 1 at midnight and it was completely cancelled in the morning. Thankfully, the weather was exactly suitable for the outdoor activities with a shower in the beginning, which stopped for the rest of the day and a bit of sunshine with a gentle breeze was replaced by. All the learning was moved from the school to the Ma On Shan Sport Ground. Students, parents and teachers became athletes to show their talent in sport. I was so happy to see students not showing their arrogance when they won and students not showing their desperation when they lost. Participation was the first priority and you could easily hear ‘students cheering each other on’ everywhere in the sport ground.

| 十一月六日(二)是本校第一次舉辦「與校長茶聚」活動的日子，是次活動報名人數超過一百人，最後我們決定，每班設有兩個名額，希望能讓參加者有均等參加的機會。活動開始時，校長先介紹學校未來的發展及已經完成的工作。當中有一個主題演講—學習英語的方法。之後，我們將家長分成六個小組，一邊品嚐美點，一邊與主任談天，校長則輪流到不同的小組回答家長的提問。活動結束前，家長為學校填寫了問卷，結果令人十分鼓舞，各家長都十分同意是次活動能增強家校合作，並希望今年會再舉辦同類型的活動。當活動完結時，家長也鼓勵校長，不停說「加油」呢！ 花絮：按這裏 | |||||
On the sixth of November, the first function called ‘High Tea with Principal’ was held. We are so happy that over 100 parents wanted to join this function but we could not facilitate so many parents. We made up our mind to give 2 seats for each class and hope this mechanism is more fair and covers more parents in different classes. In the beginning of the function, I shared the updated development of the school and the effectiveness of learning English. Parents were attentive to listen. Then the parents were divided in to six groups and an administrative member was assigned to each group. I walked around to join in their conversation and answered their questions. After this function, parents needed to fill in a questionnaire. All the collected data was so positive and parents stated that they wish the school can hold more functions like this to build a good communication between parents and school. When the function ended, the parents kept on ‘cheering me on’ and gave support. I was touched.

| 十一月八日至十三日為上學期期中試，學校安排學生半天上課。放學時，家長到校接送小朋友，學生歡愉地回家，而老師們、主任們亦利用下午的時間作批改試卷及討論學校下半年的宣傳策略，讓更多區內人士認識我們。我們均認為，美化校園是宣傳策略之一，所以我們在樓梯張貼了中、英文的鼓勵語句，這些語句既能美化校園，又能為學生提供語境，可謂一舉兩得。考試期間,我亦如常在大門外對學生說：「加油！」當然，老師們也不例外，碰面說聲「加油」，為老師們打氣！ | |||||
From 8th to 13th November the first examinations were taken. This is the first time our school changed the dismissal time from 3:30 pm to 11:35 a.m. We were glad to see lots of parents coming to take their children back home with laughter. This also meant that the school could create more space for the teachers for marking the examination papers and planning the school promotion to make the school become more beautiful, especially the staircases. We hope more people can know that our school and the number of students will increase in the coming year and so forth. I have a practice that I stand outside the school gate to greet the parents and students when they come back to school. Recently, I ‘cheered on the students’ for the examination. Of course, our teachers to be ‘cheered on’, too.

學生要考試，目的是希望查察他們所學，能否學以致用，新任校長都需要運用不同的方法進行評核。現在要成為一位校長，真的要「過五關，斬六將」。首先要完成「擬任校長課程」、「專業發展需要分析」及「專業發展資料冊」。若得到學校聘用，就必須參加為期三年之「新任校長入職課程」。在十一月九日，當我要離開學校出發上課時，遇見了家長和學生，他們問我是否外出工作，我便回應是去上課，他們異口同聲地說：「加油！」這一刻，我被感動了！我會努力！ | |||||
Students need to have examinations to consolidate what they have learnt and show they can put it into practice. Being a new principal also has different methods to be assessed. Nowadays, being a principal is hard as there are a lot of procedures you have to go through. You have to take a course which is called ‘Principalship course for Aspiring Principals’. ‘Need Analysis for Aspiring Principals’ and ‘the professional development portfolio’ must be successful completed. If you are recruited by a school, you need to take another course called ‘Induction programme for Newly Appointed Principals (NAP)’ for 3 years. On 9th November, I left school to talk this course of NAP. Some parents and students met me and asked where I was going. I told them I have to attend the NAP. They ‘Cheered me on’ loudly. I am really touched and I will try my best to help the school develop. | |||||
十一月二十一日(三)真是一個可喜可賀的日子！我校的英詩集誦隊(一年級至三年級)，參加了第七十屆香港學校朗誦節英詩集誦，學生們的堅毅精神，加上老師的用心教導，我們的集誦隊取得了亞軍。這證明了努力奮鬥、永不放棄，總有一天會取得成功！多謝老師及學生的付出，令學校取得驕人的成績。 | |||||
On Wednesday, 21 st November, 2018, it was such an unforgettable and memorable day! Our English Choral Speaking Team (P.1 – P.3) won the first runner-up on the 70 th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival (2018). Students’ perseverance and teachers’ diligence should be praised. It is proved you will success if you do not give up easily and keep on working hard. Thank you for the dedication given by teachers and students. It is really an amazing result.

十一月二十四日(六)是2018至2019年度校董會家長校董選舉及第二十屆家長教師會主席及執行委員會委員選舉。當天早上九時開始接受投票，下午四時舉行選舉及就職典禮。恭喜新一屆主席及執委，亦感謝家長們為學校的付出，他們也會「加油」為學校出一分力。典禮完結後，就是燒烤同樂日，家長、老師及他們的家屬們濟濟一堂，在操場上一起享受燒烤樂，這是「劉德容」的傳統，這個有意義的傳統，我們一定會努力維持下去，「劉德容」，加油！ 花絮：按這裏 | |||||
| On 24th November was the Election of IMC Parent Manager and 20th of PTA chairman and members. Parents could vote in the morning from 9:00a.m. to 4:30 pm. Then the ballots were counted and the result was announced. Congratulation to the new Chairman and the members. They were ‘cheered on’. After the ceremony, parents, students, teachers and their relatives and friends were in the playground for the BBQ. I believe that it is a tradition for our school. It is meaningful. I wish this tradition can be kept and they should be maintained. Let’s cheer on LTY!
